Contact Aviation has completed the installation of a dual L3 Aviation Products Lynx 9000 ADS-B Out/In system in a Lear 31A.

The L3 Aviation Products Lynx 9000 is a fully self contained ADS-B solution that includes an internal WAAS/SBAS GPS receiver, a Mode A/C/S ES transponder and a Multi Function Display (MFD). For more information on the Lynx 9000 please visit www.L-3lynx.com

This modification was performed by Contact Aviation at our customer’s base of operations during a maintenance event that was being performed by the aircraft operator.

Representatives from L3 Aviation Products, the manufacturer of the Lynx 9000, told Contact Aviation this was the first Lynx 9000 system installation approved for installation in a FAR part 25 aircraft.

The Lear 31A was equipped with TCAS I which made it a perfect candidate for the Lynx 9000 transponder/ADS-B system installation. The Lynx 9000 system is not compatible with TCAS II.

Contact Aviation now has a FAA approved path to perform the installation of the Lynx 900 in any FAR part 25 aircraft that is not TCAS II equipped.

This modification is perhaps the least costly ADS-B solution for any part 25 aircraft.

Michigan Air Transportation Expo

Contact Aviation to be part of first Michigan Air Transportation Expo

The Oakland County International Airport and Michigan Business Aviation Association are holding the first business aviation expo at Oakland County International Airport (OCIA) on Friday, Sept. 25 from 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Contact Aviation will be part of the state’s first business aviation expo later this month where executives can explore how business aviation can better position their companies.

Four breakout sessions will discuss ways aviation can improve corporate productivity and profitability. These breakout topics include how to get started with business aviation, how to operate a corporate flight department, the ins-and-outs of aircraft transactions, and a Federal Aviation Administration medical certification update. Additionally, with a total of 17 aircraft in the static display, the largest manufacturers will be represented such as Bombardier, Dassault Falcon, Gulfstream, and Textron Aviation.

Contact Aviation is excited to represent the many facets of our business and further explain how we contribute to the business aviation sector in Michigan and throughout the country.  According to a recent press release, this event focuses on giving companies the opportunity to further see the benefits of business aviation, tour the latest aircraft, attend educational sessions, and network all in the same venue.  Your Contact Aviation team will be on hand to answer any questions and help explore the corporate side of aviation that can bring so much value to your company.

The expo will take place at OCIA’s modern LEED Gold-certified airport terminal. Admission is $49 per person. MBAA members receive a $10 discount. To register, go to www.oakgov.com/aviation/news-events/Air-Transportation-Expo

Tickets may be purchased at the door on the day of the event.
